History. In the stone and copper age there were several archaeological cultures in Varna, including those which received the same name, Varna culture of the Copper Age. Odessos was one of the largest ports in the Black Sea. In the III century BC the city fell into dependence of Macedonia, and later the Roman Empire. Nevertheless, trade and crafts are still developing favorably. The remains of Roman baths II century is still exist. Christianity in Varna began to spread early.
